Commonwealth Golf Club MajorPublished on 12th July 2018 in Events, Events, Latest News, Results
A little bit of drizzle and a cool overcast morning greeted us at Commonwealth Golf Club. Egg and Bacon rolls for breakfast helped players warm up and by the time we started the rain and gone. Given the amount rain we had over the preceding 48 hours the advantages of being in the Sandbelt really showed through as the surface was soft but had no sign of any surface water. There was little run to be had and the course played a bit longer and tougher, with the scores reflecting this fact. Only 5 players were able to play to handicap or better.
Special mention must go to Dave Chiefalo for winning the shortest drive competition, off the 1st tee with driver (trying to smash it up near the green) he made the lightest of feather touches and the ball travelled about 28cm.
We look forward to seeing you all again at our next The Social Golf Club Major on September 17 at The Eastern Golf Club. Make sure to get your entries in early and secure your spot!
